Kangaroo Island, 16 kilometres off South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula, can be reached by direct flights to Kingscote Airport from Adelaide or Melbourne (Qantas, Air South and Rex airlines). Alternatively, guests can drive to Cape Jervis and take the daily vehicle ferry (45 minutes) to Penneshaw.

Located at approximately 35.50° South and 137.00° East, Kangaroo Island has a moderate climate, with temperatures ranging from 14°C–35°C in summer (December to February) and 5°C–20°C in winter (June to August).

Kangaroo Island Wilderness Retreat is perfectly located at the entrance to Flinders Chase National Park, 85 kilometres from the airport and 100 kilometres from the city centre (Kingscote).

Directions from Penneshaw

  • Follow the signs to Kingscote
  • Travel for about 48 kilometres to a T-intersection. Turn right then turn left, passing the Kingscote airport on the left
  • After passing the airport and travel to a T-junction, turn left and follow the signs to South Coast and Flinders Chase
  • The retreat is located near the entrance of Flinders Chase National Park
No transfer are available, access is via self driving hire car or pre-arranged guided 4WD tour with group or as a private charter.
